Define the case

Children under the age of 15 who have sudden discharge or individuals
Anyone of any age with symptoms of suspected polio
Here are the symptoms:

  • Sudden weakness in the limbs
  • If it’s in the arms and/or legs, the parts are sagging and can’t
    Can move arms and/or legs
  • Joints in the lower part of the body will be abnormal
  • Before symptoms, there may or may not be fever
  • Numbness can be in any part of the body, including
    Muscles of the face and forehead

Urgent reporting and investigation of all cases
Regular weekly reports
Sample collection

  • Collect stool samples 2 times within 14 days after the onset of symptoms; Samples should be kept 24-48 hours apart.
  • Put in a normal sterile tube
  • Store and transport samples at a temperature of 4°C-8°C (in the box to be delivered, there must be at least 4 ice cubes up)
  • Samples must be received within 24-48 hours
  • Initial analytical examination
  • Search for wild polio virus (Wild Polio virus)
  • Searching for polio microbe caused by vaccine related to low immunity (Vaccine Derived Polio Virus)
