Define the case

Whooping cough is a patient who has a cough lasting at least 2 weeks and has at least 1 of the following symptoms:

  • Continuous cough
  • There is a sound of chin when you turn your attention

Urgent reporting and investigation of all cases
Regular weekly reports
Sample collection

Nasopharyngeal swab sample

  • Put in a 15 mL sterile tube
  • Store and transport samples at a temperature of 4-8C (there must be at least 4 ice cubes in the box to be shipped) up)
  • Samples must be received within 24-48 hours

Initial analytical examination

Look for Bordetella pertussis bacteria by PCR method
